Governors' Charging Policy
MONKS RISBOROUGH CE Primary School
GOVERNORS' CHARGING POLICY
The Education Act requires that each Governing Body shall have a stated policy on charging for educational visits or other activities that are an extension of the school curriculum. The Governors of Monks Risborough CE Primary School have adopted the following policy:
1. The school will continue to invite parents to make a voluntary contribution for activities in school time and for certain materials on the strict understanding that there will be no compulsion to pay and the child of the parents unwilling to make a financial contribution will not be disadvantaged or differentiated against.
2. The school will charge for optional activities such as additional music tuition that takes place within the school and some activities such as residential trips that take place outside school hours. The school will consider support for parents who would wish their child to undertake such activities but are prevented from doing so due to financial limitations.
3. Special cases for full or partial remission of any charges should be referred to and dealt with by the Head teacher.
4. If insufficient voluntary contributions are received, there may be occasions when it is not possible for the activity to take place. On such occasions, contributions received will be returned.
5. Parents may be charged or asked to provide ingredients or materials for articles produced in school that will then be taken away by the pupil.
6. Parents will be charged for breakages and / or damages which occur as a direct result of their child's negligence or misbehaviour.
This policy statement will be reviewed annually.
