TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE
CURRICULUM COMMITTEE OF
MONKS RISBOROUGH CE PRIMARY SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY
CONSTITUTION:
The Membership of the Committee, and the clerk, will be as per the agreed membership grid.
Please note that the Headteacher cannot clerk a committee.
The Chairman of the Committee will be elected by a quorum of the Committee. A quorum will be at least 3 Governors.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
1. To advise the governing body on all matters relating to the National Curriculum, having liaised fully with the teaching staff, ensuring the National Curriculum is taught to all pupils and to consider any disapplication for pupils with advice from the Headteacher.
2. To consider any school visit's educational objectives, how they will be met and to advise the Governing Body accordingly.
3. To recommend to the whole Governing Body approval of the Curriculum Policy as drawn up by the Headteacher ensuring that the Curriculum is balanced and broadly based, including an annual review.
4. To revise regularly the following policies, and to monitor and report back on the implementation of policies, in order to make recommendations for the full governing body to consider:
*Sex Education Policy
*Special Educational Needs Policy
*Religious Education and Collective Worship Policies
*Complaints procedures
*Policies for all subjects in the National Curriculum
*Charging Policy (excluding lettings)
*Implementation of the Literacy and Numeracy ?hours?
*Pupil Discipline Policy
5. To revise annually the school's Equal Opportunities Policy and make recommendations for change to the full governing body. To monitor the implementation of the agreed policy.
6. To be responsible for setting, with the Headteacher, by 31 December each year, the targets for the achievement of pupils at the end of the appropriate Key Stage in the following school year, ensuring the whole Governing Body is aware of these targets. To advise the Governing Body of the targets for publishing in their Annual Report.
7. To consider any amendments to the Home/School Agreement for recommendation to the full Governing Body.
8. To ensure minutes are taken at each meeting and circulated promptly to all members of the Governing Body and the Clerk to Governors.
The Committee will have the power to co-opt members of the teaching/non-teaching staff if required.
This Committee was incorporated by Minute No.7 of the Governing Body's Meeting held on 22 September 2003. The composition of the Committee and the terms of reference will be reviewed annually in the Autumn Term.
