Class 3 spend a day in Egypt (well, Oxford !)

By Luan Ross

On Wednesday 28 November Class 3 of Monks Risborough School went to Oxford because we are studying the ancient Egyptians.

In the morning Class 3 went to the theatre to see the Awsome Egyptians from the series of Horrible Histories. It showed us how the people got mummified, how Howard Carter found Tutankhamen’s tomb and how they believed in all types of gods and goddesses. We had to wear special glasses to make things 3D and all the things that were 3D came out into the crowd. The people who were doing the play made it more fun by making the audience involved in it.

In the afternoon we say Oxford castle and they were involved in the cicil war. We did not get to go in but it still looked brilliant from the outside. Adter that we went to the Ashmolean museum. We say the mummies and the biggest mummy we saw was called Djeddjehuteufank. They believed in loads of Gods and goddesses and there were lots of models of them in the museum. We got to touch things that were 3000, 5000 and 8000 years old.

Class 3 are Twits!

Reports by Rebecca Scoble and Ellie Ingram

On the 23rd of November, Class 3 did a play of ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl. Jaimee and Rachel both played Mrs Twit and Joe Yarrow and Luke Beale were each Mr Twit. It was fun but a bit nerve wracking. Classes R, 1 and 2 were watching us. The best thing for me was when I talked. I loved all of it.

On Friday Class 3 did a play called Meet the Twits. It was written by Roald Dahl. Jaimee and Rachel were Mrs Twit and Joe Yarrow and Luke were Mr Twit. In the background, readers read all their words and it turned out like a good play. We did two shows of the same play so that everyone could take a part. We had lots of props, like tables and chairs and a walking stick and two glasses of beer [Editors note: note real beer!]
